WWSOFFL:

Week 7: The Colassals certainly were this week in rolling up 78 points with five players (M. Turner, K. Moreno, H. Nicks, D. Bowe, and R. Birones) in double figures. Only the D did not score in a 78-38 blowout against Charlie. There was one other blowout, the Gatsbys led by K Britt’s 23 points over TD Jesus 63-18. The rest of the games were close, and none closer than the Ducks 33-33 tiebreaker win over the Crushers. The replay officials were rough on the Vikings and the Crushers. In the Steve Smith Bowl, the Thumbs got 8 from the New York Giant while the Maroons got none from the Panther to win 37-28. In the battle of Giant running backs, Bradshaw’s two bonus points were enough to hold off Jacobs td and bonus point as the Onion Heads beat the Salmon 31-29. The Wheat Eaters three bye week pickups accounted for 24 of the 36 points in a 36-30 victory over the Whales.

The defending champion Thumbs have the best record in the league at 6-1 and hold a one game lead in the Peter. The Crushers have the biggest lead, by three games, in the struggling Julie while the Colassals are one game ahead of the Wheat Eaters.

How about those New York Football Giants? They spot the Cowboys 20 early points and then start playing. G-Men.

WRs 20, RBs 12.

Moves: Maroons picked up S. Smith (Car) for L. Murphy and Pettigrew for Clark; TD went for Woodland over Jackson; Succop for Nugent; and M. Williams (TB) for Tate; the Whales traded in Cleveland for Arizona; the Colassals took the G-Men for Cincinnati and Fitzpatrick for Cutler; the Thumbs went to K. Brown for Keading; and the Salmon went back to Hartley for Carney.

The DeSales Irish beat a tough Dayton team 24-7. They face Tri-City Prep in the final regular season game on the road. They need to win to assure home field in the first round of the playoffs.

**Note Crushers beat the Ducks.

week 6 results

Week 6: The Gatsbys lose, and with style. You know your season is going bad when neither you or your opponent start a kicker who actually plays, your opponent also starts two players on bye week, and you lose! To top it off, if you stayed with your original lineup you win. The Salmon, behind 12 points from T. Gonzalez and B. Jacobs downed the Gatsbys 33-30. The Maroons defeated Charlie 39-18. The Wheaties got a big day from D. Jackson before he was hurt and defeated the Onion Heads 31-26. The Thumbs surged to the lead in the Peter Division with a 30-26 win against the Ducks. In the Civil War game, the Colassals got 12 points from Birones last night to overcome TD Jesus 30-26. The Crushers took a commanding early lead in the Julie Division with a 28-16 win over the Whales.

The Link is the most competitive division with every team .500 or better. As Bob Muir noted, the Julies are just not the same without him this year with only one team with a winning record.

RBs 12, WRs 8.

Moves: Onion Heads took Roy Williams for D. McNabb and D. Branch for S. Smith (Car.); TD Price Waterhouse picked up Pittsburgh for Minnesota. The Whales reclaimed Farve for C. Williams. Thumbs took T. Moeaki for D. Thomas. Charlie switched D, dropping Baltimore for KC. To clear up some earlier confusion I caused, B. Roethlisberger is a Thumb.

The DeSales Irish rolled last Friday 70-30 over Asotin. They are at Dayton this week

Small detail here, but I need to clean up a bit. Being on the road is
my excuse:

So I sent a lineup in, and of course replied to all using an email
from Gummie. Didn't realize it only went to Dave, Jeff, and Gummie.
But I think it did.

In that email, I had a bye week D of KC. Unfortunately, or perhaps
fortunately, my D is NOT on a bye this week. So I've already messed
up and Dave is out of town. Here is my lineup I sent in - and I'm
happy to go with whatever ruling - however to keep it simple I'll just
say make the KC DST a real pickup and drop the Ravens (opposed to a
bye week D).

So with that, here is what I had sent:

Charlie will throw out these names:

Qb Rivers
Rb's
A Peterson
M Bush
WR's
M Austin
M Floyd
TE M Lewis
Bye week D - KC
Kicker - Crosby

Week 5 Results

Week 5: The Gatsbys win. Led by C. Johnson’s 14 points, the struggling Long Islanders got their first win 47-38 over the Ducks. The Crushers opened up a two game lead in the Julie with a 21-18 win over TD Jésus. There were no Monday night comebacks, but the Maroons threw a scare into the Onion Heads with three scores. In the end, B. Lloyd’s 14 points were enough to lead the sweet ones to a 38-36 win. The defending champion Thumbs kept pace in the Peter division with a 41-27 win over the Salmon. The difference in the game was three—yes three—Arizona D tds. The Colassals put up 44 points, led by 14 from H. Nicks, to thrash the Wheaties 44-34. Charlie is tied with the enormous ones as M. Austin’s 10 points led them to a 35-31 win over the Whales.

Another reminder regarding lineups from your friendly commish. Do not send me a lineup with a move you want to make without confirming the move (or providing a list of alternative pickups). We had a situation this week where a team declared it was picking up a player who had been picked up by someone else and was starting that player and then the office on Park Avenue could not reach the owner to tell them the move was not valid. It all worked out in the end this time, but you need to make your moves in a timely manner and make sure they are confirmed.

Having said all that, I will be away this Saturday-Sunday and will have limited email access. I will try my best, but I cannot guarantee I will respond to Sunday morning emails. Make your moves before 3 on Friday to be sure!

WRs 12, RBs 10.

Moves: Gatsbys took San Diego for Atlanta and Britt for Breaston. TD picked up Tate (NE) for Mason. Charlie took M. Bush for Hightower. Salmon picked up the venerable J. Carney for Hartley. Wheaties got A. Hernandez for Sims-Walker. The Crushers finally got Shiancoe for Camarillo. The Colassals went for M Hart for Clayton. The OH grabbed Chicago for SF. The Ducks got Hanson for Sproles.

The DeSales Irish bounced back in the homecoming game against TOR with a 41-14 win. It was not that close. Kincaid plays his last home game this Friday at 7 against Asotin. It is a key league matchup and the Irish need a win to stay in the race for the league championship The bbq is ready at 6. I hope to see you all at Ty Baffney field.

Week 4

Week 4: The big game of the week was the Onion Heads over TD Jesus 49-47. The Heads were led by A. Gates 15 points and 14 points from both Prater and Jones-Drew. On the other side of the coin, the lowest scoring game was also the closest as the Whales edged the Salmon 20-19. Luck is with you when a C. Buckhalter td brings you victory. The Crushers got 12 points from Mendenhall in a 32-26 win over the Maroons. The Thumbs were led by Keading’s 13 in a 25-19 win over the Wheateaters. Charlie coasted to a 30-17 victory over the Gatsbys, and the Colassals big lead going into Monday night held up as A. Foster’s 15 points led them to a 36-26 win over the Ducks.

I know, you are all asking what is up with the Gatsbys at 0-4. We will have a press conference soon.

In regards to the controversy over the Thumbs lineup, I ruled that the Thumbs were playing S. Jackson and not R. Williams because the last lineup I received via email had Jackson and not Williams. The commissioner cannot guess the intent of a team. I go by the information sent to me in the order that I receive it. In the end, it had no impact on the game. Nonetheless, teams are responsible for what they send me. I am just a recorder. That is why I do not tell teams they have started a player on bye or something like that. Not my job, nor is trying to guess what you mean when you send in conflicting lineups in successive emails. I go with what I get.

The RBs returned to the top with 13 tds to the WRs 5.

Moves: Gatsbys took Atlanta for Chicago. The Maroons took R. Torian for Massaqoui. The Whales got M. Lynch for S. Slaton. TD went C. Ivory for Portis and Keller for Shiancoe. The Wheaties picked up S. Holmes for K. Britt. Charlie took L. Moore for E. Royal. The Thumbs went with Arizona for KC. The Onion Heads grabbed B. Lloyd for J. Jones, and the Colassals took B. Rothlisberger for D. Brown.

The DeSales Irish lost to Waitsburg 27-14 last week. They look to rebound Friday night at home at DeSales in the homecoming game against TOR. The bbq is ready at 6, kickoff at 7.
