Week 12

Week 12: The Maroons, behind 20 points from P. Hillis, defeated the Whales 57-27. The Colassals got 21 points from D. Bowe to lead them to a 48-24 victory over the Salmon. The Onion Heads beat the Ducks 38-26. TD got two from Ivory to beat the Thumbs 35-28. The Gatsbys beat the Wheaties 33-14. Charlie’s law firm of BJGE got 12 points to beat the Crushers 30-26.

Playoff Picture: The six teams for the playoffs are set but the division championships in the Peter and the Link are still to be decided. The Link will have three teams via for the championship with the Colassals, Wheat Eaters and Charlie all qualifying. The Colassals have a one game lead and play the Whales this week. Win and they lock up the divison and then see if they get a bye or not based on what happens to the Onion Heads. The Wheaties play Charlie. The winner remains alive for the division crown and the loser will play in the first round. In the Peter Division, the Onion Heads and Thumbs are in and they play each other for the division title this week. The Crushers clinched the Julie Division in September, but now face a situation where they must win to guarantee a first round bye. They face a resurgent Gatsbys who have won four of their last five games.

RBs 12, WRs 10.

Moves: Gatsbys picked up F. Jackson for Forsett. TD got a new TE, Dreeson for Olson. The Colassals picked up V. Jackson and M. Manningham for Cutler and Nicks. The Salmon got Fitzpatrick for Pennington.

week 11

WWSOFFL:

Week 11: What a week for the Link! Not only did all four teams win, the lowest scorer, the Colassals with 42 points, would have beat any other team from the other two divisions. I cannot recall that ever being the case before. The Whales led the scoring parade, racking up 63 points behind G. Jennings’ 21 in a 63-33 romp over TD Jesus. Charlie caught the big wave as S. Johnson had 20 points and M. Austin 12 in a 57-31 swamping of the Onion Heads. The Wheaties got 15 from P. Manning and 14 from S. Holmes to beat the Ducks 45-37. A. Foster led the Colassals with 12 points in a 42-27 win over the Thumbs. The quarterbackless Salmon got 12 points from T. Jones to beat the Crushers 24-21 and the Gatsbys got 14 points from M. Colston to down the Maroons 33-21.

Playoff Picture: All the wins in the Link mean that the Colassals and the Wheat Eaters remain tied for the division lead with Charlie one game back and the Whales still in it two games back. The Salmon and TD Jesus were officially eliminated, and the Gatsbys, Ducks, and Maroons are all but done. The leaders in the Peter, the Thumbs and the Onion Heads, both lost and they remain tied for the lead with two weeks left in the season. It looks like the Thumbs, Onion Heads, Wheaties, and Colassals will all make the playoffs, but none have clinched yet, leaving Charlie and the Whales to fight it out for the final spot.

The Whales won the two week money. We had three teams over 90 points!

WRs 21, RBs 13.

Moves: TD: weekly swap of Olsen for Kellar. Colassals went Orton for Fitzpatrick and Cutler for R. Williams. WE: Big D for TB. Ducks took S. Graham for Hanson. OH are coo, coo Cooley, not sho sho Shockey.

The DeSales Irish were eliminated by league rival Waitsburg-Prescott 52-13. It was a disappointing way for Kincaid to end his high school career, but he had a great run of one State Championship, four playoffs appearances, three league championships, and a lifetime of great memories. I am very proud of the lad.

Week 10

Week 10: The Wheat Eaters won the big Link showdown with the Colossals 24-14 to pull into a tie for the lead with three weeks left in the regular season. The Whales are only one game back after defeating Charlie 30-11. The non-surfer is still alive two games back. The Peter Division is a two team race as the defending champion Thumbs beat the Salmon 27-15 and the Onion Heads, behind 27 points from M. Vick, defeated the Maroons 60-36 to remained tied. The Salmon are all but eliminated from the playoffs, while the Maroons need to get hot to stay in the wild card race. Talk about elimination, the Gatsbys and TD Jesus had their slim hopes for a wild card spot all but dashed this weekend as the Ducks used all the points the other Ducks saved from the weekend in a 55-38 win over the Great Ones and Crushers continued to roll with a 39-21 victory over Jesus.

RBs 13, WRs 12.

Moves: The stockbrokers at TD PriceWaterhouse remained active on the big board of Tight End futures with Kellar for Olsen. Charlie took S. Hill for Stafford. The Maroons grabbed a tradesman for avarice, going Carpenter for Gould. The Wheaties switched from the boys to the bucs on D. Pennington for Henne as the Salmon search for a qb that plays. Colassals want Ricky, and get him for Orton.

The DeSales Irish beat Brewster 33-7 to advance to the quarterfinals against league rival Waitsburg-Prescott. The game will be Saturday at Edgar Brown Stadium in Pasco at 5 p.m. It should be a great high school game, and Kincaid promises that the Irish will remain frazzle free. His father makes no such promises about the people in the stands.

Week 9

WWSOFFL:

Week 9: It certainly was fall Crush weekend in Walla Walla. The Crushers clinched the Julie Division with a 41-19 victory over the Wheat Eaters in the Duke Ellington Bowl and the Gatsbys loss to the Colassals. This is the earliest a division has ever been won! The Colassals knocked out the Gatsbys behind the perfect day from running backs as both Foster and Turner had 2 tds and went for over 100 yards to lead them to a 51-26 win. The win by the Colassals and the Wheaties loss gave the enormous ones sole possession of first in the Link. The Onion Heads pulled into a tie for the lead in the Peter as A. Bradshaw’s 12 points led them to a 44-27 win over the Whales. Meanwhile the Thumbs had the worst possible day for running backs, the two he started were on byes, in a still close 36-32 loss to Charlie who was led by P. Rivers’ 13 points. The Ducks got 15 points from Green Bay to beat the Maroons 40-30, and TD got two from TO in a 52-12 spearing of the Salmon.

Charlie won the two week money.

RBs 14, WRs 9.

Moves: The Salmon picked up Hartley for Carney; TD J. James for M Hart; The Colassals got Tamme for Woodhead; the OH wend for Shockey and dropped R. Williams; the Ducks got N. Burleson for Olson.

The DeSales Irish beat Mary Walker-Springdale 53-14 to move on in the playoffs. It is off to Brewster, apparently somewhere in the Northern Territories, for the next round on Saturday.

Week 8

Week 8: The Crushers stand alone with the best record in the league after a big Monday night brought them a close 27-26 victory over the Thumbs in the battle of league leaders. The Thumbs held onto their one game lead in the Peter Division as the Onion Heads lost to the Gatsbys 44-33. The Wheat Eaters pulled into a tie for first in the Link Division with another Monday night come from behind win, 27-24 over the Salmon while the Colassals fell to the Maroons 39-30. Charlie had the big week on the scoreboard as B. Green-Ellis’s 14 points led them to a 63-27 win over TD. The Ducks downed the Whales 27-8. (That is right, 4 teams scored 27 points.)

WRs 13, RBs 11.

Trade: The Colassals send M. Hart and the NY Giants D to TD Jesus for D. Woodhead and the Pittsburgh D.

Moves: The Salmon picked up Carney and Henne for Hartley and Romo; TD picked up Jackson (GB) for Thomas and D. Brown for Walter; The Whales took Tennessee for Cleveland; the Wheaties grabbed D. Bess for McCluster; the Gatsbys took the NE D for SD

The DeSales Irish beat Tri-City Prep 22-20 to secure home field for the first playoff game this Friday at 7 at Ty Baffney field. I hope to see everyone at the game.
